Orville W. Lamb, age 70, of Sparta, WI, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at his home near Sparta. Orville was born in Tomah on Nov. 26, 1938, to Frank and Betty Lamb.

In 1957, he was united in marriage to Nora Rhoades. They celebrated their 50th anniversary together on Feb. 24, 2008. Orville worked for Webster Lumber Company as a foreman diesel mechanic for 22 years.

He had a warm smile, loved to tell stories and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a passion for woodworking, and could be found in his “shop” on most days. He enjoyed gardening and camping during the summer months. Orville looked forward to family gatherings. He watched the grandchildren play in the yard and was known to give rides in his golf car. The food was always great too!!

His retirement years were spent with Nora, watching his great-grandchildren play. Much of the time he could be seen with Benny by his side. Benny is going to miss the cheese and ice cream.

He is survived by his wife, Nora; his faithful dog, Benny; five children, Dale (Shelia) Lamb of Holy Oak, MN, Alva Lamb of Green Bay, Frank (Amanda) Lamb of Sparta, Sherry (Vaughn) Kuehl of Tomah; Wayne (Joanne Hay) Lamb of Bangor; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Franklin (Debbie) Lamb of Kenosha; sisters, Delia Myer of Tomah and Donna Jane Peterson of Warrens; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held today (Monday), Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Pastor Jay Cronholm officiated. Burial followed in the Wood Cemetery, rural Tomah. Visitation was on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
