Donald D. Churchill, age 65, of Holmen, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was born on September 22, 1940, to Bernice Churchill in Valley Junction, Wisconsin.
Donald enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957 and served until 1961 with his unit, Squadron Subron 4. On December 18, 1971, he was united in marriage to Cornelia Faye Sojourner in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Fremont and Livermore, California until moving back to Wisconsin in 2003 after Don took and early retirement. In his spare time, Don was a pilot, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and most of all he loved to tell stories.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Churchill of Holmen, WI; a niece, Theresa Ann McKnight of Kennewick, WA; numerous cousins and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice; and brother Frederick Dale Churchill.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at the Wood Cemetery, rural Tomah. Pastor William Swan will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, January 12, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
